Integrative Health · Testing-informed coaching

Everything came back normal. You still don't feel right.

There is usually a reason underneath the symptoms. Our work is to find it, then coach what follows. We start with a free self-assessment that points to where your body is asking for attention.

About 8 minutes · No cost · Your summary is yours to keep
The first principle

We solve the real problem at the root.

Most health advice treats the part that hurts. Integrative Health asks a quieter question first: what is driving the part that hurts, and can we measure it?

Functional testing is how we answer that question with data instead of guesswork. A stool test, a saliva or urine panel, a finger-prick map. Read properly, the results point to where the work should go, so the next twelve weeks are aimed at the cause and not the symptom.

Testing is not the point, though. Coaching is. The tests are pattern data we coach from, never a diagnosis and never spectacle.

We test when a result would change what we do, and not otherwise.
Sound familiar?

The patterns people bring to this work.

You do not need a diagnosis to start. You need a pattern that has gone on long enough, and the willingness to look underneath it.

01 · The gut and food

"It is never quite settled."

  • Bloating, reflux or discomfort most days, whatever you eat.
  • Bowels that swing between one extreme and the other.
  • Foods you have quietly cut, with the list getting longer.
  • Headaches, fog or fatigue that arrive hours after a meal.
02 · Stress and hormones

"Wired, tired, and flat."

  • Running on caffeine by mid-morning, crashing by mid-afternoon.
  • Waking at the same hour every night for no clear reason.
  • Mood, drive or recovery that no longer match your effort.
  • A cycle, or a sense of vitality, that has shifted.
03 · Your body's chemistry

"I do everything right. I still run flat."

  • You train, you sleep, you eat well, and it still does not land.
  • Recovery is slower than it used to be.
  • A history that includes older homes, tank water or trade chemicals.
  • A feeling that something is using more out of you than it should.
How it works

Five steps. Nothing wasted, nothing rushed.

Most people run one or two tests. Some run none. The path is the same either way: understand the picture, then do the work.

1

Initial Integrative Consultation

$175. We go through your history and your completed questionnaire together, and decide whether testing makes sense and which test fits. If a test is right for you, it is ordered before we finish.

2

At-home testing

One to three weeks. Your kit is posted to you, collected at home, and couriered to the lab. Any bloods are arranged through your GP, which in New Zealand is often publicly funded.

3

Results and protocol

60 to 90 minutes, in plain language. You leave with your written Results Report, the document on paper that you keep, and a clear direction for the work ahead.

4

The twelve-week block

A bounded block of coaching: weekly voice-note check-ins for the first six weeks, fortnightly for the second six. Enough structure to make the change real, with a clear end you can see.

5

Retest and review

We re-run the markers that matter and decide together: complete, maintain, or go deeper. No open-ended commitments.

The Testing Menu

Nine tests, across three territories.

You do not choose your own test. That is our job, made from your history and your questionnaire. Here is the map your answers are read against.

Territory 1

The gut and food

Where most pictures begin, because the gut sits underneath almost everything else. From a first-line stool check to a full microbiome map, plus a food-reactivity map to guide a coached elimination and reintroduction.

The Gut Foundation Check · The Complete Gut Map · The Food Reactivity Map
Territory 2

Stress and hormones

The daily rhythm of cortisol, and the balance of the sex hormones, read through saliva or dried urine. The story almost always lives in the ratios, not in any single number.

The Stress Response Check · The Female Hormone Picture · The Male Hormone Picture · The Deep Hormone Map
Territory 3

Your body's chemistry

The engine room. Energy pathways, functional nutrient gaps, and the essential minerals measured beside the metals that displace them. The lens for the person who does everything right and still runs flat.

The Engine Room Test · The Minerals & Metals Check

The full nine-test menu, with what each one measures and why it matters, is in the Testing Menu guide you receive before your consultation.

Honest numbers

What it costs, with the full totals shown.

We do the maths for you, because you would do it anyway. Prices are in New Zealand dollars and billed fortnightly.

On lab fees

Lab fees are separate and ordered at my practitioner rate with no markup added, which is usually below retail. A typical panel sits between $230 and $550 including GST. You see the real number before anything is ordered, and nothing is ordered without your say.

The consultation is the one fixed cost. Everything after it depends on what your picture actually calls for, which is something we decide together.

Honesty about fit

Who this is for.

This is for you if

  • Something has gone on long enough that "wait and see" has stopped working.
  • You have tried things that helped a little, then faded.
  • You want to understand the cause, not just quiet the symptom.
  • You are ready to do twelve weeks of real, structured work.

This is not for you if

  • You are looking for a quick fix or a one-off supplement to buy.
  • You want a diagnosis. That belongs with your doctor, and we work alongside them.
  • You are in acute distress or have red-flag symptoms. Please see your GP first.
  • You want someone else to do the work for you.
Who you will be working with
James Clare, founder of Total Spectrum Health

James Clare

James Clare is the founder and director of Total Spectrum Health. Across more than twenty years in health and performance, he has worked with everyone from professional athletes to people carrying long-term, unresolved health issues.

His work is about building a personalised protocol around the root of a problem, not the symptom on the surface. Gut, immune and hormonal health, alongside strength and performance, so that body, mind and spirit recover as one system rather than in pieces.

Over the years he has sat with hundreds of people who arrived frustrated, after years of unanswered questions and more than one practitioner, wanting something that finally made sense of it. Through functional testing, nutrition and strength coaching, they have been able to understand what was actually driving things, and do the work that follows. The results are theirs.

He now also mentors and develops other coaches in these methods, so the work reaches beyond a single practice. Integrative Health is where it meets functional testing, run alongside your doctor, never in place of them.

Find out where your body is asking for attention.

The free self-assessment takes about eight minutes. It points to the territory your answers lean toward and gives you a summary to keep. If it makes sense to go further, the next step is a consultation with me to read it properly.

Questions people ask

Before you begin.

Is this medical care? +

No. Total Spectrum Health is a coaching practice, not a clinic. We do not diagnose, treat, cure, or prescribe. We observe patterns in your testing and coach the work that follows. Your GP and specialists handle diagnosis and medical care, and we are glad to work alongside them.

Do I have to do a test? +

No. The consultation comes first, and we only test when a result would actually change what we do. Many people run one or two tests. Some run none and we coach from the conversation. You are never sold a test you do not need.

How much are the tests? +

Lab fees are separate from coaching and ordered at my practitioner rate with no markup, usually below retail. A typical panel is between $230 and $550 including GST. You always see the real cost before anything is ordered.

What is the self-assessment for? +

It is a free, eight-minute version of the work we do in the consultation. It points to the territory your answers lean toward and gives you a written summary. It is a starting map, not a diagnosis, and it helps you decide whether a proper conversation is worth your time.

I already train with Susie. Does this replace that? +

No, it sits alongside it. If you already coach with Susie, the Combined option adds the testing-informed layer and includes a joint review at week six, so both streams share one program review rather than pulling in different directions.

Where are you based? +

Total Spectrum Health is based in the Wairarapa, New Zealand. Testing is done at home with kits posted to you, so the consultation and coaching work whether you are local or further afield.

Please read

A coaching practice, not a clinic.

Total Spectrum Health provides health coaching and educational support. We are not medical practitioners, and nothing here is medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Functional tests are used to observe patterns and inform coaching, not to diagnose disease. Always keep your GP in the loop and continue any care or medication they have prescribed.

Food-reactivity mapping is a guide for coached dietary change, not a test for true allergy. If you have ever had swelling, hives, or difficulty breathing in response to a food, treat that as a medical matter and see your GP or a specialist.

If you are experiencing acute or severe symptoms, please contact your doctor or emergency services first.
